Bethany Keener has been selected as Spirit Club Foundation’s new executive director. She began on September 21, taking over for Steve Allen, who has retired.
Bethany has a rich background in nonprofit communications and development. She has eight years of experience working in organizations that support adults who have intellectual disabilities, and most recently worked as the communications director for a nonprofit focused on affordable housing.
Bethany believes staying active is important for physical health, and it also improves social, emotional, and mental well-being. Her vision is to remove barriers to exercise for people who have disabilities so everyone in our community can live full, healthy lives.
Bethany holds a bachelor’s degree from Goshen College, a Master of Nonprofit Administration from the University of Notre Dame, and an associate degree in graphic design from Northern Virginia Community College. She lives in Silver Spring with her husband and two sons. To stay active, she enjoys dancing, hiking, playing Frisbee, and kayaking.
